Leila Nox Yarai

Princess Leila Nox’Yarai is one of Crown Princess Miria Nox’Yarai’s three children with Akumu Kuroi. She was born at the beginning of the Second Extinction War, and grew up in the heavily defended Guren Palace. She would train in the arts of war from an early age, though it was only with the advent of the Techoren War that she would see real combat.

Leila served with distinction during the Techoren War, gaining a reputation for bravery and the respect of those she fought alongside. While there was no single, spectacular event that set Leila apart, it seemed that she was well on her way to becoming the hero she wanted to be.

At the beginning of the Decorous War, Leila was advised to begin advanced training, as her level of experience did not match her exceedingly high potential. Though she did not appreciate this assessment, she took it as a sign that she needed to gain that experience. She joined a Claw that was focused on training competent warriors into true elites, and spent the first half of the war split between heavy training and reinforcement duty. As the war continued, she and this unit would find themselves taking on harder and harder duties. By the end, their Claw was recognized as the decisive element in many incredibly difficult battles. Though they missed the final battle, as most of their members were injured from earlier battles, they only lost 3 of their 70 members in the entirety of the war.

As this Claw was formed for training purposes and was never intended to last as long as it had, it was inevitable that the members would be dispersed after the crisis had passed. While most of the others went on to important positions in other units, Leila decided that she needed a different sort of experience, and began a career as an Initiate Emissary of the Royal Court, a role which would see her traveling to various worlds, engaging in diplomacy and solving problems as needed.

It was in this capacity that she came to the world of Trilakin and came into contact with the Techoren Halya Dae, who was suspected of being involved in the assassination of one of that world’s officials. Leila quickly became suspicious of Halya’s accusers, and decided to investigate. With the aid of Halya, the Sauriness mage Sserlector Tser’lukarn, and the Archon Garon Hardrin, she uncovered a major, far-reaching conspiracy, and successfully put a stop to it. The world’s governor, an influential Baron, was linked to s Nox’Yarai criminal syndicate known as House Lobo, which was quickly dismantled. Though there were suspicions that the corruption extended deeper, it was impossible to prove.

Leila would continue working as an emissary until the Pariah War, gathering a skilled team of individuals to accompany her on her travels, including the Evari mage Fyra Feanaur, the Archon Garon Hardrin and the World Walker Nagai.

When the race known as the Pariah attacked numerous points throughout the galaxy, Nox’Yarai included, Leila was quick to volunteer. She would assist in a mission to liberate a major Pariah prison camp, and would lead her group in a lightning raid, killing the camp’s overseer and top lieutenants, and opening the gates for the main attack force.

The raid was a success for other reasons as well. Garon Hardrin managed to recover some intelligence that indicated the Pariah were moving to capture and take control of a small army of ancient Eldur Maugi constructs. Enlisting the aid of the Princess Celst, Leila and her team set off to put a stop to the Pariah plans. While a Nox’Yaraian military force launched a diversionary strike. Nagai took the group deep into Pariah-occupied territory. Together they fought their way into an ancient sanctum at the center of Pariah activity. As Celst worked to shut down the constructs for good, Leila and Fyra focused their attention on a powerful Pariah arcanist who led the operation, while Halya led the rest of the team in suppressing Pariah trying to get into the chamber to assist. In the end it was Leila who landed the killing blow on the Pariah commander, and shortly after Celst managed to bring down the constructs.

Leila would eventually bring together many of her allies and take control over the colony world of Neth, building it into the success that it is today. Though much remains to be done, she remains dedicated to seeing it through.
